Yes, our firmware for Robin ProLine HD includes support for HomeKit Secure Video Recording enabling you to securely store activity detected by your cameras in iCloud.

You’ll find our installation manuals here on our support site.

Yes, thanks to our Ambient Light with fade-in and fade-out effect, no matter what time it is, you’ll have a really clear visual of the people who rang your doorbell or passed it.

Although the ProLine is provided with a built-in dry relay, since the door station is typically installed outdoors it is not safe – and not allowed as per the Apple HomeKit specs – to use the built-in relay to (remotely) open a door or gate. Instead, Apple HomeKit provides a secure solution with the accessory category called “Lock” or “Garage Door Opener”. Home-compatible Locks and Garage Door Openers are listed on the Home accessory page. Configure the Lock and ProLine door station in the same “room” and you will receive a popup with an unlock button if someone rings the doorbell, next to receiving push notifications on your iPhone. If you have more than one Lock or Garage Door Opener, you’d like to operate from one ProLine, just select the applicable Lock from the Home app home screen to open or close that lock.

You and the people you invite need an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch updated to the latest version of iOS or a Mac updated to the latest version of macOS. Make sure that you and the people you invite are signed into iCloud on an iOS device or Mac. To invite people to control your home while you’re away and edit permissions for them, you need to set up a HomePod or Apple TV as a home hub. If you don’t have a home hub set up, you can only invite people when you’re at home and connected to your home Wi-Fi network.

Functionalities

Yes, thanks to the smart camera and artificial intelligence, your doorbell can recognize who is at the door. The Home hub matches the face of the person at the door with your photo library of your iPhone or iPad and, when recognized notifies you when your friends or family are at the door.

In our dedicated Robin App, it is possible to specify a period of the day in which the Doorbell does not respond to ringing. When you, for example, don’t want to be disturbed between 11 pm and 6 am, you can enable the do-not-disturb function in the app.

Every time someone rings the doorbell, it takes a snapshot of that person.

Feel free to delete any unwanted snapshots made by the doorbell in the dedicated Robin app from now on.

Unfortunately, the Apple Home app does not support automation based on the Robin call button. We hope Apple implements this option soon. On the other hand, you can use the motion detection feature in the doorbell to implement the automation.

The firmware for our doorbell includes support for HomeKit Secure Video Recording, enabling you to securely store activity detected by your cameras in iCloud.  The video streamed from your ProLine and iCloud is end-to-end encrypted to your devices, so only you and the people you share your Apple Home with can view it.

The Robin ProLine compact doorbell unit matches the size of the new Robin HD doorbell. This means that if you currently have a flush-mount Robin, you can seamlessly replace it without needing to alter the existing flush-mount box.

The new surface mount box features a slight variation in size due to the ambient light ring. Nevertheless, the screw holes on the old surface mount box align perfectly with those on the new one, simplifying the replacement process.

The mounting is super easy, just follow the steps from page 13 in our manual you’ll find here.

Software and app

You’ll need a minimum of iOS 16 / iPadOS 16 for the doorbell to function optimally.

Besides the settings in the Home App, you need the Robin app to further personalize your doorbell:

  • Creating snapshots
  • Viewing snapshots
  • Delete snapshots
  • Set the do-not-disturb feature
  • Adjusting volume of speaker and microphone
  • Updating firmware
  • Change sensitivity of the button

The Robin ProLine 1080p HD is Apple Home certified as of February 2024. Back in December 2018, our first Apple HomeKit compatible doorbell was the 1st company worldwide to launch a HomeKit compatible Video Doorbel, and in January 2020, we were the 1st one to launch support for HomeKit Secure Video Recording approved by Apple for HomeKit. The Robin ProLine is listed on the HomeKit accessory webpage.

Notifications and recordings

On all connected Apple devices that run on a minimum of iOS 16, you’ll receive notifications:

  • iPhone
  • iPad
  • Apple TV
  • Apple Watch
  • Home Pod
  • iMac
  • Macbook

Via our smart doorbell, you will receive notifications about

  • Motion detection: Receive alerts when the doorbell detects motion near your entrance.
  • Doorbell Ring: Get notified when someone rings the doorbell.
  • Live Video Feed: View live video footage from the doorbell’s camera directly in the notification, allowing you to see who is at the door in real-time.
  • Snapshot: Receive a snapshot image of the activity or person at your door.
  • Two-Way Communication: You can talk to visitors through the app.
  • Package Delivery Alerts: Robin can also notify you when it detects a package in front of your door.

The doorbell will recognize if there is a person, an animal, or a package in its view. The doorbell can even recognize who it is if this person has been identified before.

You will find your recordings in the Home app on all your connected Apple devices.

External connections

The ProLine is provided with a built-in dry relay – normally opened, max 24V / 0,75 A – that can be connected to your existing chime. (Note: the chime needs its own power supply.). If someone rings the doorbell, the built-in relay will automatically close for 2 seconds (duration configurable via the Robin app) so that you will hear the chime next to receiving push notifications.

No, the ProLine needs a UTP CAT5e cable with Power over Ethernet from a PoE port on your switch or router. A UTP CAT5e cable (10 meters) and PoE injector are supplied with the ProLine, just in case there is no free PoE port available on your switch / router.
